Exclusive Behind the Scenes At Belleek with Limited Edition Gift
This is a truly special experience that offers couples or groups of up to 8 people the unique opportunity to enjoy an afternoon in the company of Fergus Cleary our archivist and 4th generation potter.
Collectors Room
On arrival you will be welcomed with tea/coffee and homemade treats in the privacy of the Collectors Room.
Fergus Cleary will regale you with stories about the history and heritage of this special place and will include a guided tour of the Collectors Room, where potters benches have been preserved, exceptionally rare pieces can be viewed and where you have the opportunity to appreciate the architecture of this superb 19th century Victorian building. Visiting the Collectors Rooms is an exclusive feature of this experience.
The Collectors Room is accessed by a narrow stone stairwell that has been used by potters since 1857. You feel the history in the building, and can imagine the skill, tenacity and creativity of potters past and present as they climb 2 flights of stairs with boards of fragile pottery.
16 Hands
Your tour includes introductions to our master crafters who continue the intricate task of pottery making with an insight into their skill and experience. Notice as pottery pieces travel through 16 pairs of hands, each stage as important as the last. At selected stages you can take the opportunity to participate and understand just how complex and skilful each part of the process is. Enjoy the chance to participate in the personalisation of your take home gift – a limited edition piece. This is another unique feature of this experience.
Museum
Fergus will showcase the pottery museum (normally selfguided) where you will learn about the evolving story of the Belleek. From stunningly patterned sanitary ware to ornate and intricate flowered pieces you will see how this beautiful Irish made pottery is delicate, distinct and a true demonstration of our potters skills. Other highlights within the museum include the original pottery doors and the Visitors Book dating back to 1860.
Masterclass
As part of your exclusive experience you will take part in a workshop with one of our master crafts persons. You will get to personalise your own piece of Belleek which will be fired and sent on to you at a later date.
